The Edmond Sun has helped provide a sense of place for Edmondites since it premiered as a small weekly in Oklahoma Territory on a hot July 18, 1889, day, in what was known then as a train refueling town. Today, many of Edmond’s sprawling population of more than 74,400 residents connect with their community by subscribing to The Edmond Sun. It is Oklahoma’s oldest continuously published newspaper and the hometown voice of Edmond during its territorial days, wars, dust bowls and the Great Depression. It has served Edmond through joy and despair, through drought, tornadoes and prosperity. The Sun continues to report 21st century civic news, education, marriages and stories of everyday life.  Impressively, it has experienced alongside Edmond the dawn of two new millennia after having touched upon three centuries of central Oklahoma history.

The Edmond Sun’s 121 years of commitment and passion for this community have now partnered with Oklahoma Christian University, another proven pillar of our community. Together, they produce STUDIO 46 – a program dedicated to political and economic matters that affect Edmond and Central Oklahoma and housed in OC’s Academy of Leadership & Liberty.

The issues of freedom and liberty have been in the DNA of Oklahoma Christian University for more than half a century, and its Academy of Leadership & Liberty exists to uphold, teach, and strengthen the values that promote liberty, free enterprise, and servant leadership. To accomplish that mission, the Academy seeks to inspire leaders of character, vision, and courage while equipping them with the values that have a profound and lasting impact on individuals, families, communities, and nations. Guided by faith and the principles of servant leadership, character, and social justice, the Academy is committed to perpetuating the values and freedoms endowed by our Creator and empowered by the founding wisdom of our Republic.

Together, these partners are continuing to blaze the trail by championing the values that are critical in our form of government: a responsible free press; informed free speech; and the rights and responsibilities of the people to be an educated, involved electorate. Join us each week on STUDIO 46 for vision, leadership, and communication.
